This year for our annual Parks to Kids Day, join us on our Great Scavenger Hunt. Travel to all of our parks and follow the trail to a fun prize once completed. Kids have the whole week to complete the scavenger hunt.
Susan Knight Smith, Sally Storey Jones, Coe Steinwart, Laura Smith…four great artists come together to celebrate the “Early Days” in the memorable line-up of work displayed May 10-June 24. The exhibit will reflect the agelessness of a world around us, as artists explore times past and quaint moments that help us to take a step back, worthy of pause.
Come pause with us at the gallery to view the timeless exhibit and celebrate the opening reception on Thursday, May 13, 5-7 pm. The evening will be hosted by Douglasville’s own “Farmer’s Table” who will serve up an old fashioned favorite – ice cream and cobbler.
Douglasville Police Department is having a Town Hall Meeting at the Police Department Community Room located at 2083 Fairburn Rd, Douglasville, GA 30135. We will be discussing our Use of Force Protocol, Internal Affairs, Investigations of Officer Use of Force, and Training & Recruitment. We hope you will come out and join us for this in-person event. Masks will be required and temperature checks will be done at the door. Light refreshments will be served.
The Douglasville Police Department invites everyone to fellowship together while discussing topics impacting our community. Discussions are held on the 2nd & 4th Thursday of the month. (No 4th Thursday meetings in November or December, nor on holidays). We speak on local issues and work together as one for the benefit of the community. This spring, the hydrangeas are loaded with buds and the Penny McHenry Hydrangea Garden Tour should be spectacular, showcasing many varieties of hydrangeas, including the Penny Mac and Mini Penny, named for Penny McHenry. There are several of Douglasville | Douglas County’s most beautiful gardens participating in the Hydrangea Garden Tour, some of which have been featured in national magazines. Visitors will enjoy seeing a number of outdoor retreats, architectural features and more.
Limited number of tickets available. Tickets may be purchased online at dcmuseum.org beginning May 18, or at Douglas County Museum of History and Art during regular operating hours* beginning Tuesday, May 18, 2021. Please bring your ticket with you as you tour the gardens. Garden locations will be listed on your ticket and hostesses will greet you at the gardens beginning at 9:00 am on Saturday, June 5, 2021.
Unfortunately, this tour is not wheelchair or stroller accessible. Please wear comfortable and sturdy shoes. Current Georgia Covid-19 precautions will be required, including social distancing.
The Douglasville Police Department will be holding a Summer Festival instead of a Spring Festival this year. It will take place on June 5, 2021 from 10 am until 4 pm at the Douglasville Public Safety Complex located at 2083 Fairburn Road. Come out and meet your public safety officials while the kids enjoy a summer egg hunt, touch-a-truck, a K-9 demo, vendors, food and fun. This event is free and open to the public. We will be social distancing, have hand sanitizer stations throughout the festival, and ask that you bring a mask for close interaction. The entire event will be outside.
